Morris Minor hen house

TITLE:  Morris Minor Henhouse

SIZE OF IMAGE:  320mm x 240mm

SIZE OF MOUNT & COLOUR:  500mm x 400mm in white

PRICE:  SOLD

ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION:  While visiting some friends of very long standing in Scotland last summer, I was commissioned to paint this picture, which was the first car my friend had owned, and it had been used as a henhouse.  I had to do some reseach to find images of the old style Morris Minor with a split windscreen, trafficators, and "British racing green" colour.  I found the colour the most difficult thing to paint, and although normally when I paint Citroen 2CVs I make them very rustic (and rusty), this was not allowed!  It was fun to do, and took some considerable time, with three attempts.  I think if I was to do it again, I would make it more "cartoon-like", take the odd door off to show the insides, and paint loads of rust - just for the sheer fun of it.

Morris minor henhouse II

TITLE:  Morris Minor Henhouse II

SIZE OF IMAGE:  320mm x 240mm

SIZE OF MOUNT & COLOUR:  500mm x 400mm in white

PRICE:  £150.00 Plus P&P

ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION:  This painting shortly after the first Morris 1000 henhouse, in my attempt to produce something which would please my buyer.  In the end I sent off the original painting, which I think was probably better in some ways.  I always find that a commission is really quite tiring as there is so much more to take into consideration than pleasing yourself!

Blue Citroen with chickens

TITLE: Blue Citroen with chickens
SIZE: N/A
PRICE: SOLD
ARTIST'S OBSERVATIONS: Watercolour and ink. A friend of mine in France had a little old "derelict" and rusty Citroen in her garden and it fired my imagination. It was painted a little tongue in cheek, using my own chickens as models, and although it will never be a masterpiece, it was fun to paint and it sold!
CARDS: Handmade cards available.

Yellow Citroen with geese

TITLE: Yellow Citroen with geese

SIZE: N/A

PRICE: SOLD

ARTIST'S OBSERVATIONS: Watercolour and ink. Same inspiration as Blue Citroen with chickens. One of the things that fascinated me was trying to portray the rust which speckled quite a lot of this cheeky little car.

CARDS: Handmade cards available.

Boat in Christchurch harbour I

TITLE:  BOAT IN CHRISTCHURCH HARBOUR I

SIZE OF IMAGE: 120mm x 170mm

SIZE & COLOUR OF MOUNT:  200mm x 300mm in white

PRICE:  £105.00  (Plus P&P)

ARTIST'S OBSERVATIONS:  This scene attracted me, firstly the colour and slightly scruffy state of the boat, then the pattern and reflections in the water.  It's one of the few which I didn't draw into afterwards, which probably tells me that I was quite pleased with the contrast of tone.  This then led me on to Boat in Christchurch Harbour 2 with the sun playing a greater part.

CARDS:  Handmade cards available to buy.

Boat in Christchurch harbour II

TITLE:  BOAT IN CHRISTCHURCH HARBOUR II

SIZE OF IMAGE:  110mm x 170mm

SIZE & COLOUR OF MOUNT:  200mm x 300mm in white

PRICE:  £105.00 (Plus P&P)

ARTIST'S OBSERVATIONS:  This painting was based on the first version, with the added interest of the sun on the horizon and reflected in the water.  Although it was the same fishing boat, I did take liberties with details, just for the fun of it.  They are meant to be a pair.

CARDS:  Handmade cards are available to buy.

Le Velo Vert

ARTIST'S OBSERVATIONS:  This was the second of my bicycles - once I get started sometimes it's difficult to stop!  I turned the image of my bike round in the hope they would become a pair.  I continued the French theme with a sign on the wall, flowers, and a similar design of bricks/blocks.  The colours are similar as well.  This time the bike was part of an advertising prop for a French plant seller.  Like my first bike, this one filled me with memories of France.  I think there is a third one to come!!

ARTIST'S OBSERVATIONS:  I love this painting; it came about while finding an old bicycle leaning against a wall with a basket of flowers in its front basket and was being used as a point of interest as it would never be ridden again.  Over the years I have painted rusted out cars and such like and this bike, in my mind, needed a similar treatment.  Once I had the shape of the bike and the bricks behind it my imagination took me back to my life in France, and so I added signs and boxes as well as more flowers.  It reminds me of happy times in rural France.

Harmans Cross, Swanage Railway

TITLE:  Harman's Cross, Swanage Railway

ARTIST'S OBSERVATIONS:  On a lovely, late summer's day last year I visited Swanage with a friend.  It is a really beautiful, bustling place and as we passed the station I gave in to an urge to travel to Corfe on the Swanage Railway.  The line isn't very long, but it calls at a couple of little stations staged from another era.  Although the line is mainly a tourist attraction, locals also use it to get from A to B.  I was enthralled by the old-fashioned atmosphere of the station while we waited for our train to Corfe, so I took some photographs and that was the beginning.  I also tacked on my ticket at the edge of the picture, and if the little picture never sells, it will remind me of a fun day out.

Fishing Boats at Rest

TITLE:  Fishing boats at rest

IMAGE SIZE:  265mm x 265mm

MOUNT SIZE:  400mm x 400mm  MOUNT COLOUR:  Bright white

PRICE:  £150 including P&P

ARTIST'S OBSERVATIONS:  One of my many painting passions is to try to paint the sea and reflections thereon.  It is an ongoing process when sometimes I am more successful than others.  I found the subject matter of this picture quite difficult.  While I enjoy painting boats, I struggled with the detail in this one, as it was inspired by a photograph I took on my phone and sadly the detail wasn't quite as clear as I would have liked.  The image is of no particular harbour, although the boat number is correct.
